Public speakers who use a video projector to provide their audiences with visual aids almost always find their presentations compromised by the distractions inherent in the projector setups. Unless they bring their own technicians, they must contend with connecting the computer to the projector, launching the presentation software and opening the files containing the visuals - actions which are all visible to the audience. Even the most professional speaker cannot hold an audience's attention while this is going on.
DSan instroduces, Videocepter®, a combination video switcher and digital signage device that intercepts a video connection between a computer and a display monitor or projector and provides a substitute image for display. Such image can be one stored inside the device or is captured from the computer before the interception. It can also be exchanged for a live one on a second, connected computer
Videoceptor enables visual presenters to hide their desktop from an audience while they launch or change an application or file or if the actual computer connected to the monitor or projector is rebooted, turned off or swapped for another.
Videoceptor enhances presentations by eliminating the visual distractions inherent in computer-projector setups. The seamless display of a logo, soothing image or informational signage before or after a presentation creates a production-level look for a fraction of the price and size of professional video siwtchers. Videocepter can become an essential tool for the "road warrier" along with his laptop and projector.
The Videoceptor is intended to sit beside the presenter's laptop computer. Prior to his presentation, he will have loaded images into the device via a USB port. The device looks like a Flash thumb drive to the computer. These images could be a corporate logo or a picture with a message such as "Annual Sales Meeting - Intermission". One image is the default image that will be shown automatically if there is a loss of signal from the presenter's computer - if the cable is disconnected or the power turned off. Either stored image can intercept the live VGA from the computer by a selection button. Optionally, another computer - such as a Netbook can be connected and the image from this passsed to the VGA output. This might be useful if the presenter wanted to play a video or display a screen-saver pattern. The presenter can also choose to render the projected image black (or blank) in the case where he wants the audience to stop looking at the screen. Lastly, a loop-out port allows the presenter to see exactly what will come out of his computer before the image is sent to the projector. The Videoceptor incorporates a very small LCD panel that allows the user to preview the PowerPoint show mode before actually allowing the presentation to pass through. The device can be powered by an an external 5-V "wall-wart" power supply or via the 5-volts available from a connected USB port.
Videoceptor accepts video resolutions up to 1024 x 768.
