D'San Corporation has developed a sophisticated yet cost effective solution for organizing debates, speaking order and voting for small legislatures.
The Deliberator ® uses uses communications and display keypads that connect to a PC or laptop computer. Each keypad sits in front of a member and provides controls to request to speak and to vote. Names of members who make requests to speak appear on a video display in the order of the requests.
"Most of the products that contain this functionality are designed for large congress bodies with 100+ members and are beyond the budgets of local legislatures," says Rodger Swarth, D'San's director of marketing. "The Deliberator makes use of a PC - something every small legislature already has on hand - to keep the price of the system within reach."
The Deliberator's speaker's list and voting tabulation can be overlayed with a broadcast feed of the legislatures sessions and the voting results can be imported into agenda and other meeting management software.
The Deliberator requires minimal inistallation. All keypad wiring snaps together with modular connectors and connect to a laptop or PC through a serial or USB port. All operating systems are supported and several legislative bodies or committees can save members names in separate files in order to use The Deliberator with no reconfiguration.
MSRP: $5750.00 for 10-member system.
See Deliberator Web site pages for additional information and pictures.
